Rick and I drove to Cheyenne Wyoming to visit my brother Bill and his wife Annette. What a great trip. Bill has season tickects to Cheynene Frontier Days. We went to the Rodeo three days in a row. It was great, especially the Bull Riding. I also got to see the statue of Lane Frost and Red Rock. I have followed the story of Lane Frost ever since I saw the movie 8 seconds. I was so inspired by Lane and his life.
Every year the city of Cheyenne has a free pancake breakfast for Frontier Days. Bill took us to the breakfast Friday morning. That was so neat. That morning they served 9,000 people. They served three pancakes and some ham. They use a new cement truck to mix up all of that pancake batter. The line was so long, but went so fast. The way the run it we didn't have to stand in line for that long at all. It was a really good breakfast too. The kicker is that it was all free. They do this three different days over Frontier Days and serve an average of 30,000 people and it was all free. I was so amazed. That afternoon Rick and I went to the first day of the rodeo. It was so awesome. There is an Old West Museum there as well and we got to check that out. Lane Frost's memorial statue is out front of the Museum.
Saturday morning we went to the Cheyenne Frontier Days parade. It was better than any I have ever been too. It was really a neat parade then it was off too the rodeo. Saturday night we went to the Kenny Chesney concert. Jake Owen opened for him. What a great concert. Kenny is such a great performer as well as a great singer.
Sunday night Bill and Annette took us to dinner at a restaurant they used to own. The name of it is Little Bear. It was really good food, but my brother said that it wasn't as good as when they had owned it. They have a dessert called Bear Balls. Yes, you read it right Bear Balls. Of course Rick and I had to try them. Bear Balls is two round scoops of ice cream rolled into Oreo cookie crumbs. It was really good. Thank you Bill and Annette for your wonderful hospitality. It was great spending time with you.
